Rope and Anchor – Much Loved Family Pub in Poole
by Sam Davis
he Rope and Anchor is a local pub in the heart of old town Poole, part of Wadworth breweries. I was approached to build a new website for the pub which conveyed the warm and friendly atmosphere on offer, as well as being able to showcase the great food and menu choices that they have to offer.
The site needed to be responsive, have the ability for the owners to upload their own events and menus, write blog posts, and have a photo gallery to showcase the venue. I brought along my own photographer for this project, and took pictures of the bar area, restaurant and outside, capturing the true feel of the pub.
The team wanted to offer logins to members of staff to assist in uploading events, news items, and managing the menu pages.
Site Speed Improved
I took over the hosting of their website, and now it flies - no over-reliance of bulky plugins, plus StackCache caching.
Ease of Contact
The Rope and Anchor wanted to provide an easy way for patrons to get in touch with their table reservations for food.
Mailing List Building
Building a mailing list was a priority, so an exit pop up was put into place, as well as sign-up forms in key areas.
With a constant flow of amazing reviews that had put the pub top 10 in Poole for food, sharing the Google Reviews was a prority.
Making the site look 100% on all devices was a must, so the site was re-jigged and made responsive (Google loves responsive sites!)
